I studied Commercial Graphics (1992 - at South Cheshire College, Cheshire) and Landscape Design and Amenity Horticulture (1994 - Reaseheath College of Agriculture, Cheshire) and won a design award for a commercial project. My experience as an Interior Designer has heavily influenced the emphasis on composition in my paintings - their contents, colour and space between objects. My painting technique is achieved with a 'loose brush' and a varying weight of paint, together with the beautiful fluidity of the paint used. The work may be described as 'investigative energy' with a focus which is an alive movement with the atmosphere and mood that a painting evokes. References from photographs taken in my garden in the summer trigger shape and textures that eventually achieve the composition committed to canvas. The background medium (pure colour pigment paint) enables a subtle colour transition throughout the day's changing light. The light reflecting qualities of the Chinese Lacquer, together with a layering technique creates tactile 3-dimensional effect on the painting. I exhibit at The Pantiles, Tunbridge Wells and have a collection exhibited at the 'Luniverre Gallery', Cord sur Ciel, South of France. Mob: 07760 361371 |
